CenturyLink Partners in Education

In 1981, the Communications Workers of America (CWA) created the Committee on the Future to take a long-range look at the evolving needs of its members. The Committee noted "in the past, a worker might expect that one set of skills would guarantee a job for 10 years, 20 years or even a lifetime. But with the flood of technological advances now sweeping the telecommunications industry, the change is beginning to be felt in virtually every industry, and that means workers are going to have to train and retrain all of their lives..."

Partners in Education (formally Pathways to the Future) for CenturyLink (Qwest) employees is an educational benefit bargained for through negotiations between the Company and the Union. Partners in Education offers the following:

  • Reimbursement for textbooks upon course completion.
  • Education and career planning assistance.
  • Assessment of skills, interests, aptitudes and prior learning.
  • Peer support offered through a network of Partners in Education advocates who work at CenturyLink.
  • Options for former employees eligible under the Qwest Union separation plans.

We have a Metro-Site Coordinators' Committee that meets with some of the educational providers. Many classes are held on CenturyLink sites. If you're interested in contacting a Partners in Education advocate, call the Union Hall (612) 722-7200 for numbers.

To receive an application for your Letter of Credit, apply at: www.centurylink.com/mytuition or call 800-729-7526.

There are many schools eligible for Partners in Education dollars, and there are others that are not accredited. Make sure the school you apply at is eligible prior to registration at the school.

Selecting a school in the Education Network may offer reduced tuition or fees.  To verify if your college or university is a part of the Education Network, visit: edassist.com/client-company/CenturyLink/matrix. Call EdAssist if there is a question on the school you plan to attend.
