Local Committees
- Education Committee (5) - The Education Committee shall assist in developing the Local’s education program & with the Local officers & is responsible for effectuating the Union’s & Local’s educational programs
- Election Committee (5) - The Election Committee shall conduct all nominations, elections & referenda of this local
- Organizing Committee (5) - The Organizing Committee shall assist the Local officers & members in organizing all non-union employees within the Local’s jurisdiction as well as unorganized workers in external units.
- Legislative-Political Committee (5) - The Legislative-Political Committee shall assist in developing & pursuing the program of the Union & the Local in the Legislative-Political field. It shall also be responsible for the Local’s program to register each qualified voter.
- Membership Committees (By Company) (?) - The Membership Committees shall accept or reject membership applications in accordance with the bylaws & rules of this Local & Article V of the CWA Constitution & policies of the Union
- Community Services Committee (5) (3 Available Slots) - The community Services Committee shall assist in developing all Community Services programs
- Committee on Equity (9) - The Committee on Equity shall study & report to the Local on the ways & means of eliminating discrimination on the basis of sex, race or any other basis. Subcommittees under the purview of this committee include the Women’s Committee, Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, or APALA & the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, or CBTU, Pride at Work & LALCA.
- Stewards Committee (Required to Be a Steward) (5)
- Member’s Assistance Program (3-5) - The Members Assistance Program, or MAP, works to assist members & beneficiaries under their benefits with mental health & substance use disorders. It would be helpful to have committee members in other regions & a background in recovery is a bonus.
- Retiree Committee (Should Be a Retiree) (3) - Works as a conduit between retired members & the national Retired Members Council, or RMC, keeping them engaged as activists & legislatively.
- Building Committee (5) (Comprised of Executive Board) Reviews & implements repairs & upgrades of the union hall as necessary.
- Bylaws Committee (3-5) (Comprised of Executive Board) Reviews, recommends & implements changes & improvements to local bylaws as necessary.
- Safety Committees (No Limit, May Vary by Company) - The Safety Committee meets regularly in conjunction with management of respective companies to discuss issues & concerns to implement policies, safeguards & procedures to resolve blind spots & processes within working conditions with the end goal of making our work safer.
