About CWA District 1
CWA District 1 represents more than 150,000 workers in 327 CWA local unions in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, New England, and eastern Canada. CWA members work in telecommunications, health care, higher education, manufacturing, broadcast and cable television, commercial printing and newspapers, state, local, and country government.

About the Save CT Call Centers Coalition
The Save CT Call Centers Coalition is made up of labor and community groups throughout Connecticut with a common goal of fighting for Connecticut's working families and our communities. Call centers are easier to move than other jobs, making them a prime outsourcing target for CEOs. But the results are predictable: outsourcing hurts New York families, depresses wages, and exploits labor from around the world with poverty-level pay. Thousands of customer service jobs disappear throughout the country each year as corporations send more work out of state to boost their profits at the expense of working people. Just last year, AT&T closed multiple CWA call centers in Meriden, eliminating 90 good jobs. AT&T received $20 billion in corporate tax breaks from the 2017 tax bill and then proceeded to kill over 37,000 union jobs in 2018 alone.

The Act Concerning Call Centers and Notice of Closure (H.B.6383) aims to prevent the outsourcing of jobs from Connecticut to other locations to keep our communities strong.
