NOKIA BARGAINING REPORT #56
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The Company and Union Bargaining Teams have not met due to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) hearing last week. As previously reported the CWA National and CWA Local 4390 filed charges against Nokia for failing and refusing to provide the Union with information requested and for bargaining in bad faith. A hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, 2019.
We are extremely proud and happy to report that Nokia has settled the charges and is now required to supply us with the information it has been withholding! Nokia has until May 31, 2019 to provide the information. Once CWA has had time to review the requested information, Nokia is required to meet with the Bargaining Team and CWA’s Research Economist so that we can perform our own cost analysis. This will take some time but will go a long way in helping us to craft proposals that will help us achieve a collective bargaining agreement that will provide job and retirement security.
As part of the settlement, Nokia is also required to physically post, mail, e-mail (as well as post on the intranet) a notice that says in part:
- We will not refuse to bargain collectively and in good faith with the Communications Workers of America, AFL-CIO (CWA), by failing and refusing to provide CWA with the requested information that is relevant and necessary to bargaining over the decision and/or proposal to replace all bargaining unit employees with third party contractors, non-unit employees of the Company and/or other non-unit workers;
- We will bargain collectively and in good faith with CWA by providing CWA with requested information that is relevant and necessary to bargaining the decision and/or proposal to replace all bargaining unit employees with third party contractors, non-unit employees of the Company and/or other non-unit workers.
This is a HUGE win for us and we owe it to all of the hard work and dedication from our legal teams, staff, Art Plas and Steve Amato.
One day longer, one day stronger! An injury to one is an injury to all! United we stand!
Your Bargaining Team,
Mary Jo Reilly
