Nokia Bargaining Report #38
The Bargaining Team met with the Company again today. The Company provided some partial responses to our data requests. With contract expiration just 4 days away it is clear from the Company’s continued stone walling (on the subcontractors costs among other things) that they are under a misguided notion that the Union will simply agree to decimate the bargaining unit, provide no cushion to the 57 individuals who wouldn’t even get a lay off allowance and walk away with no protection for retiree healthcare beyond two years. We need to make it very clear that this ISN’T GOING TO HAPPEN. We are scheduled to meet the rest of the week.
We believe that the CEO of Nokia, Nokia’s Bargaining Chair, Nokia’s Customers and your Legislators need to know that eliminating good Union jobs and putting retiree’s benefits at risk is BAD BUSINESS.
