Nokia Bargaining Report #27

September 13, 2018

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Company and your Bargaining Team met today. The Company passed 10 proposals. While this may seem like progress most of the proposals were to continue existing language until June 30, 2019 subject to an “Effects Agreement” that is satisfactory to the Company. Translation – If the Company has their way the Bargaining Unit will be gone in 9 months. The Company also passed a proposal to extend Post-Retirement Medical, Dental and Group Life through 2021. Sound familiar?? It should. It’s the same proposal that was passed on June 21stjust packaged differently. It still contains the caveat of eliminating the Bargaining Unit. The Union informed the Company that the retirees have a distrust of the Company relative to their retirement security.

The Company also responded to several data requests that leads your bargaining team to believe that the Field Forces of the Future is a pipe dream. Not sure what pipe they’re smoking…

The Union continued to express its desire to keep the Bargaining Unit intact, protect retiree healthcare and pensions while continuing to be a part of Nokia’s future. We are still waiting for the company to respond to the Union’s data requests so that we can formulate comparative labor cost analysis and meaningful counter proposals in responses to the Company’s statements regarding cost and flexibility. Bargaining will resume on Wednesday, September 19th.

Remember if you encounter quality issues with 3P contractors or are sent to clean up their mess please send the information to the bargaining team by emailing cwalocal1090@yahoo.com.
