Mobilization Activity # 3 - Letter to Congress/Senate

Brothers and Sisters,

The Mobilization Committee is requesting that we as union members write letters to our Congress and Senate persons about our bargaining. Please see the draft of  the letter that you can copy and send to your representatives in Washington DC.

To: Senator________ or To: Representative__________Over the years The CWA Telecommunications Installershave been a staple to the industry and our nation’scommunications systems.Installers were the heartbeat of Western Electric as theytraveled the globe installing and updating ourcommunications systems. At divestiture they becameAT&T Technologies and then Lucent Technologies andthen Alcatel-Lucent and now Nokia. Through all thechanges they remained the best at their craft andcontinued to perform the work made necessary bychanges in technology. These American jobs are now injeopardy as foreign managed Nokia has stated that inconcert with their global operations they would not beusing the current workforce in the future. Future workwould be subcontracted and in some cases shippedabroad. Losing this work would destroy the unit forAmerican workers and the retirees who depend on theunit for negotiating benefits as well.I ask your support not to let this foreign company takeaway American jobs and benefits.Yours truly,______________________​​
