Dues Authorization Cards - Fill them out and return them!

Brothers and Sisters,

Last January 20th, the local was notified that Union Dues Authorization Cards had been mailed out to the home addresses of every member of the local with a letter of explanation and a return envelope with pre-paid postage.  This notification was posted to our locals’ website as a news article along with copies of the letter of explanation and the union dues authorization card in a pdf files that the members could view and download.   As of today, our Secretary/Treasurer, Michelle Ramirez has only received three union dues authorization cards back.  In this first letter to the members I stated that it was required that each member fill out and return the union dues authorization cards. 

Today our Secretary/Treasurer will be doing a second mailing to the last known home address to each of the members that have not returned their union dues authorization cards.  Again, there will be a card, a second letter and a return envelope with pre-paid postage.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind all our members why it is required to fill out and return their union dues authorization cards.  The first reason is it is considered a condition of employment and failure to fill out and return the union dues authorization cards could result in the employee’s termination.  The second is that the local depends on your dues, without your dues the local will eventually become bankrupt and will no longer be able to function as a local representing our members.  The third reason is because our bargaining unit depends on us paying our dues, without us paying our dues the bargaining unit will not be able to function.

 It is critical that each member fill out and return their union dues authorization cards.  I can only encourage our members to do so

The local also recognizes that some members may be on temporary transfer and/or have moved.  Please see and print a copy of the union dues authorization card, fill it out and mail them to the address listed below.
