BARGAINING REPORT #19
July 26, 2018
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The Union and the Company met yesterday afternoon. Your bargaining committee passed several proposals in order to address all of the Company’s concerns, in an effort to preserve the Bargaining Unit and our jobs.
At the same time, the Company refused to give the Bargaining Team its cost savings from the 2014 base closing and effects agreement, stating that those are not relevant to the current bargaining. The Company also restated that they need the flexibility to reduce and increase head count as they please. They also want flexibility on skills. Therefore, they believe that the 3P model is the best option but their goal is to dissolve this Bargaining Unit. So far, the Company has refused to make a single proposal that preserves the unit and at the same time provide the flexibility they state they need.
We will continue bargaining on Friday and possibly over the weekend with the contract extension date approaching next week.
Remember, if you encounter quality issues with 3P contractors or are sent to clean up their mess, please send this information to the bargaining team: cwalocal1090@yahoo.com.
Please keep Mobilization going! We will need membership support as we continue to bargain for a new contract, retiree healthcare and pension.
