Northland Cable Television (Vyve) Tentative Agreement Reached!!!

Hello Northland (Vyve) Brothers and Sisters,

We are happy to announce that we have come to a tentative agreement with Northland (Vyve). Your bargaining committee met with the company twice via Zoom to discuss proposals, and we have been communicating with them the past two weeks via email to work out final details. Your Secretary/Treasurer Marsha has emailed you all the tentative agreement, along with an email to vote! Please read below the changes made to this contract and then follow instructions in the voting email. We are hoping to wrap up voting in one week (9/26).

The new tentative agreement improvements are:

  • A Three year agreement; the previous contract was two years
  • Despite a longer bargaining period, we are backdating changes to August 1st, 2024
  • For those who have worked for the company longer than 6 months, vacation amounts have increased by one full day. The monthly accrual amounts have been adjusted to reflect this change. Article 7, Page 4
  • The boot reimbursement amount has been increased 50% as we believed the current boot reimbursement was not sufficient. The yearly reimbursement was previously $100; this is now $150. The bi-yearly reimbursement amount was previously $200; it is now $300. Article 15.3, Page 7
  • The yearly bonus program for this upcoming year will pay out 5%; this is an increase from the previous contract of 4%. Remaining years TBD as long as the program is still going (no new language). Article 17.2, Page 7
  • General wage increases over three years will follow: 3.5% in 2025, 3% in 2026, and 3% in 2027 totalling 9.5% over the course of this contract. Article 17.2, Page 8
  • The current starting wage tables have been updated to reflect current state minimums.
  • The company has worked with executives to put in place a strict process for the tech SCTE certification payouts, clear timelines for field reviews (30 days within SCTE completion), and making sure those bonuses are paid in a timely manner. Appendix A, Page 10
  • The last change is a letter of recommendation to allow one member to join the management safety call once a month to discuss safety issues and other related health issues impacting the workforce. The members are to elect one person who will attend this meeting each month and help draw out talking points. Letter of Understanding - Safety Committee, Page 13

We believe the company worked to meet us on our proposals and bargained with good faith. We will send out an email to vote anonymously; your officers will be waiting to receive the results.

I know some of you may have questions about these changes. Please reach out to Pres. Steven or EVP Ed if you have any questions via phone call, text, or email.
