The BDN Union represents journalists, photojournalists, digital content editors and print design staff at the Bangor Daily News and its family of weekly newspapers and websites including the Houlton Pioneer Times, The Star-Herald, the Aroostook Republican and News, the Piscatquis Obsterver, the St. John Valley Times, thecounty.me and fiddleheadfocus.com.

The Bangor Daily News is Maine’s most-visited digital news website, and one of its oldest newspapers, operating since 1889. Members of the BDN Union value an independent press and are committed to telling the truth and the real stories of Mainers. 

The BDN Union is a unit of the Maine News Guild, Local 31128, and the Communications Workers of America.

The Communications Workers of America represents 700,000 workers in private and public sector employment in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

CWA members work in telecommunications and information technology, the airline industry, news media, broadcast and cable television, education, health care and public service, law enforcement, manufacturing and other fields.
