Dale Association (Niagara)

logoAbout The Dale Association: What is the Dale Association?
The Dale Association is a not-for-profit organization providing an umbrella of human services for adults of all ages. Each service has the goal of enhancing the quality of life for people.

Founded in 1951 in response to a concern for older adults living alone and in need of social and recreational opportunities, The Dale Association began with the belief that people needed to be involved with life to remain healthy, active and happy. The Dale Association helps people maintain the independence they want. Today we are still making lives better as a comprehensive human services organization with programs for adults of all ages and from all walks of life. Our current umbrella of services include:

supportive services for the elderly

community outreach

enrichment and travel

mental health programs

The Dale Association's caring and professional staff members and volunteers make it possible for us to deliver a variety of services which have a positive effect on the lives of those adults who live in our community.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Dale Association appreciates and utilizes volunteers in multiple capacities throughout the organization. People can sign up to help us one time, once a week, once a month or more often, depending on their interests and availability

If you would like further information about volunteer opportunities here at The Dale, please call Sherry Livergood at (716)433-1886, ext. 109. We have meaningful activities for all:

Connecting GenerationsOur inter-generational programs bridge the gap between school age children throughout Lockport and adults of all ages.  Our volunteers enjoy their time with the children as much as the children enjoy their time with the volunteers. Scroll down for photos and specific school-age programs.

C.A.R.E.Call And Reassure Elders, is a free telephone reassurance program for Niagara County residents. A trained volunteer will place a phone call on a regularly scheduled basis to seniors who are in need of someone to touch base with them to ensure their well-being and/or to have a friendly conversation. C.A.R.E. is not a referral service or medical alert service.

Individuals may self-refer or be referred by a caregiver, family member, or service provider. C.A.R.E. is intended to serve Niagara County, NY seniors or disabled adults who are home-bound, isolated, living alone, or in need of daily contact to ensure personal safety. This may be temporary while recuperating from an illness or it may be a permanent situation. Married couples who are home-bound are eligible for C.A.R.E.

C.A.R.E. volunteers who are interviewed, screened and trained, place calls to people at agreed upon times. Volunteers are instructed to allow the phone to ring 15 times and if there is no answer, to try again in 15 minutes. If there is still no answer, they will try to reach designated emergency contacts. If that fails, 911 will be called to respond.

C.A.R.E. offers peace of mind to people, family and friends, as well as provides daily socialization.

To enroll yourself or someone you know in C.A.R.E., or to be considered as a C.A.R.E. volunteer, please call Nancy Smith at 716-433-1886 ext. 108, or email[email protected].

C.A.R.E. is made possible with funding from Niagara County Office for the Aging.
