Local 7901 Election
Celeste Jones, our Local 7901 President, has announced her resignation to take affect on 23 August 2019. Per our Local By-Laws, an election must take place within (60) sixty days of that date. I have set dates for the nomination process and the election to take place. Please refer to the Calander of Events on this webpage for those dates.
As Executive Vice President of Local 7901, I am also announcing my resignation to take affect on 23 October 2019 (Day of election), so that I may run for the position of President. My reason for doing this is soley to save our Local the cost of another election, should I win.
With all this said, members will be voting for President, Executive Vice President, and Area 1 Vice President (CenturyLink, Avaya, Legacy-T, Dex).
A Nomination Meeting will take place on 30 September 2019, at the Union Hall, from 7:00-8:00pm. Members may not self-nominate and must be present to accept a nomination if made. Any member interested in the Area 1 Vice President position should be an employee of one of the represented companies; CenturyLink, Avaya, Legacy-T, Dex.
Ballots will be mailed out on 9 October 2019, to the mailing address we have on file at the Hall. Please remember, Employers do not share your personal information with the Union. If you have moved, you must notify CWA Local 7901 of your new address. You can do this simply by sending an email to evp@cwa7901.org . Please incude your mailing address, personal cell#, and a personal email address, and I will immediately enter that information into our database. In the last election we had more ballots returned as "Undeliverable" than ballots returned to vote.
The Election will take place on 23 October 2019. Ballots will be counted by the Election Committee after 10:00am that day. If you choose to, you my drop your ballot at the Union Hall before 10:00am to be counted. Our office is downstairs in the AFL-CIO building at 3645 SE 32nd Avenue, Portland. An announcement of the results will be emailed to all membership on that day.
I will be posting job descriptions to this site very soon. I encourage every member to get involved with our Local. I also caution that you seriously consider the responsibilities you would be taking on as an Officer of our Local. It consumes a great amount of your time. It is very stressfull at times, but it is also extremely rewarding when you see the positive impact you can have on members' lives.
Please address any questions you have to me.
In Solidarity,
Tony Hayden, Executive Vice President, CWA Local 7901
