Why We Wear Red: Remembering Gerry Horgan
This year marked the 31st anniversary of the passing of Gerry Horgan. Horgan, a 34-year-old member and chief steward of CWA Local 1103, was struck and killed by a car that drove into a picket line during the 1989 NYNEX strike.
At his funeral, a line of thousands of CWA members wearing red stretched for more than a mile along the route to the church. Today, and every Thursday, CWA members wear red to honor Gerry's memory and to show that we are united in the fight for justice for all working people.
