CWA Retirees Meeting July 8, 2019

July 8th, 2019

The meeting was called to order by President Bob Huss.  He said a prayer and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.  He asked everyone to remain standing as he read the names of the deceased: Cheryl Mitchell, George Zaiger, Dennis Wipke and Frederick Arbolet, Sr.  There were no new members present.

Nancy Jinkerson read the minutes of the previous meeting.  With no corrections it was moved, seconded and passed to approve them as read.  Ron Munford gave the financial report.  It was moved, seconded and passed to accept the report.

Vice-President Earline Jones was not present.  Bob Huss spoke about the economy, especially with regard to retirement.  He also talked about health care and reminded everyone to look into changing their Medicare supplemental plan if they are not happy with the one they have currently.  He answered questions from members about their health care plan.

He mentioned the Blues winning the Stanley Cup.  He attended the parade with his wife and grandkids.  He also talked about the US Women' soccer team and their championship, as well as the fact that they are paid significantly less than the men.

The Labor Day parade will be on Labor Day September 2nd.

No one signed up for the birthday cake drawing so a random drawing was done from the raffle tickets.  The cake was won by Ron Zimmerer.

Drawings were held and monies were given out as prizes, followed by items for the white elephant.

Bob told a joke.  A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn.

Bingo was played afterwards.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Jinkerson Secretary
