Local 4501 Secretary of State Union Members ratify 2021-2024 Contract

After a marathon single day of negations, CWA Local 4501 Branch members at the Ohio Secretary of State’s office ratified a new 3-year contract through June 30, 2024. The results were unanimous and the totals were 17 in favor of ratification and 0 against ratification.

Highlights of the upcoming contract include:

  • 9% raise over the three-year term (3%, 3%, 3%)
  • An additional day for steward training paid for by the office
  • Removal of restrictions placed on Union member’s use of a bank of 500 unpaid hours in which to conduct outside union activities.
  • Removal of a requirement to report back to HR that a meeting had occurred in which members were counseled on Sick Time Usage
  • The addition of “Step Siblings” in Sick Time Usage and Bereavement Time Release
  • The removal of all Gender Specific pronouns in favor of Non-Gender Specific pronouns resulting in the most inclusive contract in Secretary of State history

Thanks go out to CWA Local 4501 President Kevin Kee, Tim Quinn, CWA Local 4501 Branch Vice President at the Secretary of State’s office, the Contract Committee Members David Gutierrez-Winnett and Lisa Frew and CWA Legal Counsel Mike Moses. Their hard work and dedication have resulted in the best possible contract for the members at the Ohio Secretary of State’s office.
